Tri-fold Journal Covers - La Meme Etoffe
Date: December 2014
Client: La Meme Etoffe, Liverpool
After meeting the sisters behind local textile business La Meme Etoffe, we were commissioned to make two matching journal covers.
We discussed ideas and established what would be stored in each of the covers. After a few sketches, we settled on a tri-fold design which would include pen storage, a pocket for receipts, and a secure space for a sketch book.
The base pieces were marked out, punched, and then fitted with the additional parts. The pockets and loops were secured with hand-stitching using an extra strong thread. Antique brass poppers allowed the cover to be fastened shut and carried neatly in one hand.
The covers were a big hit with their new owners, and are still being used 5 years later.
